Liturgical Ministries

Liturgical Ministries are ministries that serve during the celebration of the mass. We are in need of people in all ministries.

Altar Servers

Altar Servers assist the priest in the celebration of the Mass. This ministry is open to all boys and girls in the fifth through twelfth grade. New Altar Server training happens in May. Please contact the Parish Office if you or your child would like to become an Altar Server.

Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion

Eucharistic Ministers assist in distributing Holy Communion at the weekend Masses and bringing Communion to the homebound as requested. They are selected by the pastor and upon attending a training session appointed by the Bishop for a period of service of five (5) years.

Lectors

Lectors proclaim the scripture during Mass on Sundays and Holy Days. They have occasional training sessions. The ministry of Lector is open to all confirmed men and women of high school age and older

Ushers

USHER AND GREETERS: are called to be Ministers of Hospitality. They are entrusted with promoting a sense of welcoming and belonging to all the faithful assembled for worship. They are the first point of contact for the communal celebration of the Liturgy. Ministers of Hospitality minister to the entire community in a very active way.

The Ministry of Hospitality is truly a service to the Church and should be treated seriously and with great dignity. Therefore, as an usher/greeter, you should have an understanding of the Liturgy in order to be effective in providing the faithful with the proper environment.

In addition, the following attributes will assist the ministers of seeking Jesus’ face in the face of each and every person who comes into the church: patience, reverence, sensitivity, compassion, understanding, gentleness, and kindness, embracing a sense of the family gathered as the Body of Christ.

Your participation as an usher/greeter should be a direct reflection of your own prayer life which is nurtured by the Word of God and reception of Holy Eucharist thereby imbuing within you a spirit of dignity and respect.
