Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Kudos to Karen Kulivan and Whitney Edwards for a successful Vacation Bible School! Some 50 elementary school children and 15 pre-schoolers participated. This was all made a success thanks to 25 dedicated adult and teen volunteers. Congratulations to all of you for a job well done.
Thanks, again, to the many generous parishioners who helped us reach our goal to purchase two parish school activity buses. We have already used them for three parish trips (the field trip to the Museum of the Bible in Washington, DC, the youth field trip to King’s Dominion and the Altar Server Picnic at a parish in Fairfax). We hope to begin pick up and drop off for the 5 PM Mass and the 2 PM Mass soon. And, of course, we are looking forward to using them for our school children to make it easier for them to attend Epiphany
school.
Epiphany school is looking for at least two people interested in a paid, part-time position as a bus driver. The hours would be approximately 6:45 AM to 8 AM, and 2:45
PM to 4 PM. The salary is negotiable, and the applicant must be VIRTUS – compliant (compliant with the diocesan requirements for child safety.) Please contact Mary Leslie at 540-825-9017 for more information.
Joshua had another surgery in Philadelphia on July 25. At first, he was very weak, but eventually got strong enough to come home on July 29. He is gradually progress-
ing, and we hope we will know soon if the attempt to join his small intestine to what remained of his colon was successful, so that a permanent colostomy bag will not be needed.
The Joshua Fund has collected $20,300 so far, and $8,365.73 has been disbursed as reimbursements for medical expenses, which leaves us with $11,934.27. Joshua’s family
is very grateful for the help we have been able to give. If you would like to write a check to contribute, please make it out to Precious Blood Church. Thank you, again, for your
generosity.
As we continue with our parking renovation, please consider arriving a few minutes earlier to Mass. We are trying to reserve the upper parking lot for the elderly, the disabled and those with small children. Thanks for your willingness to park a little farther away.
There are only three weeks left for registration for CCD. A reminder that the First Year Confirmation class is open to 7th graders.
God bless,
Fr. Kevin
